Sleepy Black Bear/Polar Bear

Copyright © Jessica Boyer 2011 All Rights Reserved.

I submitted pictures of my bears to Leisure Arts today.  They said it takes 3-4 weeks for them to review the picture and decide weather or not it is something they are interested in. I am not sure if I should sell it on Etsy, or if I can sell it while I wait for an answer from them.

Christmas

Well Christmas didn't turn out exactly as I expected.  I was fine Christmas Eve, and got to be with my family.  Christmas morning I woke up with the flu (thanks Santa).  So we opened gifts in the morning then my husband and Avery spent the day at his parents.  Avery had a great time both days so I am really happy she enjoyed her first Christmas.  She loves all of her new toys and has enough clothes to last her until she grows out of 18 months.  I am also glad I at least got to celebrate on Christmas Eve.

Christmas plans

Christmas is going to be crazy this year.  It is Avery's first Christmas and I am SO excited.  We gave her one of her gifts the other day.  She started tearing off the paper piece by tiny piece.  Once she saw that there was something under it she started going nuts.  We got her a toy cell phone because she is always trying to take everybody's.  She loves it.  My mom gave her a stuffed talking dog today while we were over, making stuff for Christmas Eve.  She has so much stuff to open Christmas and Christmas Eve she isn't going to know what to do with herself.
We are going all over the place, tomorrow we have my husband's aunt's party.  Christmas Eve we go to my parent's party then his parent's house to be with his family.  Then Christmas we are going to Memere and Pepere's, my Dad's, his parent's to eat, my parent's, then back to his parent's for games.
Christmas hasn't been the same since my grandfather past away.  I loved him so much and think about him everyday.  Avery has brought back my Christmas spirit.  If he was still alive I know they would have had so much fun together.  This year going to be amazing not because it is going to be like it used to be, but because it is a new kind of Christmas, with new traditions and my beautiful baby girl.

Avery with Santa

12/21/10

Finished the elephant for Alyssa and the goat for Jillian before Christmas got here.  Phew >_<;  I was starting to sweat.  I was going to make a bunch of slippers for people but I just don't have time.  Hopefully I'll finish the throw for my Mom by her birthday.  I decided for 2011 I am just going to make a bunch of stuff with a goal for having enough for gifts and a craft fair for Christmas time.  I am going to post pics of the goat after Christmas is over.

Last week I joined the CGOA I am so excited.  I want to take their master crochet program.  Then I want to teach some beginner crochet classes.  I feel like this is the start of something for me :)  Hopefully I can do the projects they send me.

Alyssa's Christmas Gift

My sister asked me a while ago to make her a blue elephant.  I saw a pattern I liked, and after finishing the head realized how much I hated it. So I started from scratch. I sketched what I wanted it to look like, and this is what I have so far.  He just needs legs and a tail.  I'm thinking of maybe adding a pocket.  I made the elephant kind of in the same way I made the pig.  My other sister asked for a goat.  That is going to be interesting.

10 Years

My high school reunion is this Friday, and it had me thinking about what has happened in my life the past 10 years.

So lets see.  I went through a couple of rocky relationships, and then met the love of my life :)  I had to take some medicine that made me gain 30 lbs. that I had a bad reaction to.  Lost some friends, but reconnected with an old friend who became my best friend and is now like a sister to me.  My Grandpa passed away suddenly and I miss him very much.  I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and had to quit my job.  I went to school and got a certificate in graphic design and made some great friends.  I got married to my awesome husband. I sold some of my paintings.  I had a miscarriage, which was very hard to deal with.  A few months later I got pregnant with my daughter Avery, and she is absolutely amazing.  I've spent the last 10 months loving every minute of watching her learn new things.  I started crocheting again and remembered how much I enjoy it.

So, I am happily married, have a baby, and 2 cats.  I have 3 tattoos 1 I regret.  We own our home.  I have great friends.  My family is incredible.  My Mom will always be my hero.  I still love to paint and crochet.  Fibromyalgia hurts really bad but I am dealing with it.  I love being a stay at home mom!  I am pretty happy where these past 10 years have landed me :)

Dental DOOM!!!!

Last week wasn't too awesome. I had 2 baby teeth with no permanent teeth under them. Since the baby teeth have been there so long, they fused to the bone. Which we found out after my dentist tried to pull it out, and it wouldn't budge. I had to rush to the oral surgeon to get it out. Anyway, I have been working on getting an implant in. The post went in fine. Last week I had to get the next piece put on which was supposed to be simple. The night after I got it I woke up to a mouth full of blood, looked in the mirror, and it was like a horror movie in my mouth. So I called and he said that was bad so I had to keep gauze in my mouth for an hour at time to make it stop and it did. Until 2 am the next morning and it was Blood Mouth the Sequel. I went back to the oral surgeon and he had to cauterize it with silver nitrate. When the Novocaine wore off I was wondering why my cheek was burning so bad look in the mirror MY CHEEK WAS CAUTERIZED TOO!!! So finally everything is fine. I had an awesome weekend with my friends and family and it totally made up for it.

Projects

I am working on about 4 different things right now. I am crocheting my Mom a throw for Christmas, I have 2 aliens I am working on and I am crocheting Mr. Hat from South Park for my friend for his Halloween costume. I hope I get it done in time. This is what I have so far. I still have a long way to go.

Swing

This weekend was Avery's first time going in a baby swing. Actually it's the second but she was too tired the first time, and we took her right out. So, this time she hate it for about 30 seconds, and then realized she LOVED IT! She had so much fun. I think James had fun too :)

Scare of the Day

Avery had me so scared this morning. I was just about to feed her and her head went down her eyes went as far back as thy can go and were going in different directions, and her body tensed up and she stayed that way for about 4 seconds I called her name but it didn't snap her out of it like I hoped it would. Once she stopped she started crying. I called the nurse at her Dr.'s office and they said to bring her in and not to scare me but I might have to call an ambulance if it happened again or got worse (That scared me). So we brought her in and they said they didn't think it was a seizure, and that it can be normal for a baby to do weird things like that from ages 6 months to 9 months. If she was older they would worry. So they told me just to watch her and to call if it happens again. It was very scary, but I am glad it is not something to be super worried about ... even though I will worry about it because that's how I am.

Cookies

Making all the apple stuff reminded me how much I love to bake. I was trying to think of something to do with what I had in the house, so I made these.

I got the recipe here http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/raspberry-and-almond-shortbread-thumbprints/Detail.aspx. I didn't have any almond extract, so I chopped up some Emerald cocoa powdered almonds and mixed that in. For the icing I melted some bittersweet chocolate added some powdered sugar and water. They flattened out a bit but are super yummy!

Apple Picking

On Saturday we went apple picking with our best friends and their daughter. I had such a nice time. It was something different to do, and a way to get some fresh air. After we were done, we went to my Mom's house to make some mini apple pies and an apple crisp with my sisters. That night Avery started trying to crawl and now she is all over the place! She is pretty quick so needless to say I have pillows everywhere lol.

She also started sitting up on her own. I went to get her out of her crib when she woke up yesterday and she was sitting in the middle smiling at me :) I can't believe how big she is getting or how fast.
