Cookies

Making all the apple stuff reminded me how much I love to bake. I was trying to think of something to do with what I had in the house, so I made these.



I got the recipe here http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/raspberry-and-almond-shortbread-thumbprints/Detail.aspx. I didn't have any almond extract, so I chopped up some Emerald cocoa powdered almonds and mixed that in. For the icing I melted some bittersweet chocolate added some powdered sugar and water. They flattened out a bit but are super yummy!

Apple Picking

On Saturday we went apple picking with our best friends and their daughter. I had such a nice time. It was something different to do, and a way to get some fresh air. After we were done, we went to my Mom's house to make some mini apple pies and an apple crisp with my sisters. That night Avery started trying to crawl and now she is all over the place! She is pretty quick so needless to say I have pillows everywhere lol.





She also started sitting up on her own. I went to get her out of her crib when she woke up yesterday and she was sitting in the middle smiling at me :) I can't believe how big she is getting or how fast.

I think I am going to try to make a free pattern to post on here. Thinking an alien eyeball cat toy or something small like that and see if I can actually type one out. If that works maybe I can start making animal patterns :)

Current Projects 8/13/10

These are the current things I am working on. Two blankets and a tote bag. I am also going to start making a rattle to put in my Etsy shop.

Rattle

My daughter has a stuffed toy duck that she loves, so I made her a duck rattle. It is 12:30 at night and I just finished it so I don't know if she likes it yet.

Bacon the Pig

I decided to crochet animals in addition to the aliens I make. I just finished a pig. Initially I was going to make him a flying pig, but

once I finished his face he looked so depressed. I was wondering what would bum out a pig, and figured if he was named Bacon that would be pretty depressing. Ha! I guess I am kind of evil.

Intro

My name is Jess Boyer. I am 27 years old and I have been crocheting since Nan (my grandmother) taught me when I was little. I am using this blog almost as a crochet diary, also to talk about my 5 month old baby. I named it The Crochet Maniac because all the other names I wanted were taken :P So after trying out about 10 different names I decided to go with Crochet Maniac since my husband keeps saying I am one.
